I have a strict no rush policy. While this doesn't mean slow, it does mean that I approach your work thoughtfully. Rushing is known to sacrifice quality, breed errors, and provide little to no room for success. I get quite busy and work longer hours during the peak tax season, but I don't rush through projects because your work is important to me.
This means if you need a tax return prepared in a few days or want me to put your work in front of another client's work, I won't be a good fit for you.
I understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In our desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored: 24 hour advance notice by phone (831-688-6481) is required when cancelling or altering an appointment. Late cancellations, alterations and missed appointments are subject to a missed appointment charge of $75. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment. If the appointment was for an initial ½ hour free consultation, the free consultation will be forfeited. My standard hourly rates will apply should you decide to reschedule.
If you are late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments and work follow yours. Regardless of the length of the actual appointment, if you are late billing will be calculated based on the full scheduled appointment time.
You may have some concern about the confidentiality of the information you provide to this office. It is my policy to keep your personal and business matters confidential to the extent permitted by law.
Client Information, Privacy Policies and Notice Regarding Advisor-Client Privileged Communications
The Federal Trade Commission has issued regulations that require tax preparation firms to provide an annual statement of firm privacy policies. Here is our policy:
I handle all information you provide me with the utmost confidentiality. Your personal information will only be shared with members of my firm who need to know this information in order to complete the work you have hired my firm to do. I will not disclose your personal information to anyone outside my firm without your express written permission to do so, or unless I am legally required to do so. For example, if a mortgage lender contacts our office for a copy of your return or information about it, I will ask that you provide written permission prior to responding to that request.
You should also be aware that anything you tell me during the interview for the preparation of your tax return is confidential, but not protected from the IRS. Privileged communications (those that are protected from IRS authority to compel our testimony) are limited to non-criminal tax advice on matters before the IRS or non-criminal tax proceedings in federal courts. Although I consider any information you provide as confidential, return preparation engagements are not covered by advisor-client privilege.
If you feel the nature of any subject matter to be discussed requires protected communications, please raise that issue so that I can discuss your possible need to consult with an attorney for legal advice.
